Emmy Lu Trammell, PhD, RDN, LD
Emmy Lu is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who specializes in nutrition therapy for disordered eating and eating disorders. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from The University of Texas and her Masters and Dietetic Internship at Lamar University. After several years of clinical dietetics, Emmy Lu continued her education at Texas Tech University by completing her PhD in Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Addictive Disorders and Recovery Studies in May of 2016. She is currently working towards her Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian credential.
Emmy Lu is passionate about helping individuals find freedom from food and food related behaviors that may be causing distress in their life, or even consuming their life. Emmy Lu focuses on client individualization to best develop this freedom, both mentally and physically, from food related issues.
The word “metanoia” means “to change one’s mind” and that is exactly what she strives for with her clients regarding their food relationship. Emmy Lu works from the belief that disordered eating and eating disorders are not about the food, but instead revolve around a relationship with food and the factors influencing that relationship. She works to empower and develop autonomy in her clients in this area of their life and in whatever way that is most beneficial to the individual. This process may include, but is not limited to, challenging distorted food beliefs/fears, educating on healthy nutrition and food behaviors, facilitating food freedom, re-feeding the brain, fostering healthy self-image, and troubleshooting maladaptive behaviors.
Emmy Lu is now accepting appointments for nutrition therapy related to disordered eating and eating disorders starting November 1st. Please call or email for more information or to set up an appointment!
