Training Description:

Participants will obtain a foundational knowledge of the rationale for using play therapy or art techniques with adult, adolescent, or child clients. Attendees will participate in experiential activities that can be used to integrate into their work with clients. 3 CE direct contact credit hours will be provided for APT, LPC, LMFT, LSW.

Learning Objectives:

1. Explain the rationale of using play therapy and art.

2. Identify materials needed for using play and art.

3. Describe when using play and art would enhance the counseling process

4. Describe the application of play therapy and art within the individual or group setting.

5. Practice conducting and processing a play or art activity

Presenter

Kelly Martin, MEd, LPC, RPT is a licensed professional counselor and registered play therapist. Kelly is the founder of The Playroom Lubbock, a collaborative therapy practice for children and adolescents where she provides parent consultations and play, activity, and sandtray therapies. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Lubbock Christian University and her Masters in Education in Counseling from University of North Texas. Kelly is the board President of the High Plains Chapter for the Texas Association for Play Therapy and a recent graduate of the Association for Play Therapy Leadership Academy.
