Linking Parents to Play Therapy: December 7, 2018, 3 APT CEU Hours


Mental health graduate students and counselors may participate in this 3 hour play therapy workshop Friday, December 7, 2018 from 11:30am-2:45pm at Playroom Lubbock (6520 University Ave #5) Lubbock, TX (806-340-0715)

Training Description:

Involving parents in a child’s play therapy results in more productive therapy for the child and is more fulfilling for the parents. This training will present an overview of how to establish a collaborative relationship with parents, cover legal and ethical issues of play therapy, navigate how to work with resistant parents, and model how parent and therapist meetings can be facilitated. 3 APT CE direct contact credit hour will be provided. APT Approved Provider 17-509

Learning Objectives:

1. Explain the rationale of incorporating parents into the play therapy process

2. Describe legal and ethical issues that may occur in the play therapy process

3. Practice conducting a parent meeting

4. Explain approaches for forming an alliance with parents during the play therapy process


11:15-11:30: Registration

11:30-1:00 Introduction and Instruction (participants may bring their own lunch)

1:00-1:15 Break

1:15-2:45 Instruction and Workshop evaluations

Participants must register to attend this training. The $80 fee (less a processing fee) may only be refunded if participant cancels no less than 2 days before the scheduled workshop. Attendees must be present the entire duration of the training.
