Training Description:

Participants will obtain a foundational knowledge of sandtray play therapy basics: rationale, philosophy, interventions, and techniques. Participants will be introduced to sandtrays and miniatures, and participate in individual and group sandtrays. 3 CE direct contact credit hours will be provided for APT, LPC, LMFT, LSW.

Learning Objectives:

1. Explain the rationale and brain science behind sandtray in play therapy. 

2. Identify materials needed for sandtray therapy.

3. Practice basic responses and skills

4. Describe conducting and processing a sandtray

5. Describe sandtray interventions to incorporate into play therapy with individuals, families, and groups.

Presenter

Kelly Martin, MEd, LPC, RPT is a licensed professional counselor and registered play therapist. Kelly is the founder of The Playroom Lubbock, a collaborative therapy practice for children and adolescents where she provides parent consultations and play, activity, and sandtray therapies. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Lubbock Christian University and her Masters in Education in Counseling from University of North Texas. Kelly is the board President of the High Plains Chapter for the Texas Association for Play Therapy and a recent graduate of the Association for Play Therapy Leadership Academy.
