Kayli Cross, MS, LMFT LCDC
My name is Kayli Cross and I am a Marriage & Family therapist and Chemical Dependency Counselor. I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2008 with a BS in Community, Family & Addiction Services and then in 2010 with an MS in Marriage & Family Therapy.
My experience and my passion is in working with teenagers and young adults. I believe that time in life is, not only crucial, but also has the potential to be one of the most exciting and encouraging season's for someone. It is also confusing and hard, and at times painful to the point where it seems there will be no end.
Adolescence and young adulthood should be fun, challenging and adventurous. It's the time when we learn boundaries, create our own opinions, and really start to put into place the foundations of what is to come. Everyone speaking into a young person's life matters - parents, friends, teachers, coaches, counselors, mentors, etc. and my hope is that we are teaching natural consequences and speaking life.
Peer pressure is also strong at this stage in life, and media, entertainment and societal norms hold a powerful position.
My hope is to provide a healthy environment for individuals and families to make this journey together and for healing to take place.
In working with the young person (adolescents and young adults), my aim is to build rapport and to first address any resistance they may have to her as a person of “authority.” The wonderful thing about working with teens and young adults is that, once that rapport and trust is built, we can practically say anything to each other. I can challenge them on hard issues and they can know that I will be a person that serves as a safe haven to share with honestly. My hope in having this rapport is also being able to facilitate any healing that may need to take place between the young person and their family members. Sometimes this is something that parents want to see happen right away, but it is my job to advocate for the young person as to when it is timing is right.
I am now available and accepting appointments. Please call or email me for more information!
